Coral Reefs in the Desert

The Red Sea is where the desert meets coral. Bare desert mountains drop straight into some of the clearest water on earth, over the northernmost coral reefs on the planet and wrecks as famous as the SS Thistlegorm.

Egypt is the established side, with Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and the offshore dive routes. Saudi Arabia is the frontier, where new marinas at Sindalah and AMAALA are opening water that has barely seen a charter yacht.

And the season runs October to May, which makes this the rare warm-water charter that peaks while the Mediterranean is closed.

Coral Reefs in the Desert

Why the Red Sea

The draw of the Red Sea.

Coral and reef fish at Sharm el-Sheikh

World-class diving

Coral walls, wrecks, reef sharks, turtles and dolphins on clear-water sites that rank with the best anywhere.

Camel on the Red Sea shore

Desert islands, empty anchorages

A stark, beautiful cruising landscape: blue water, sand, desert mountains and reef-fringed islands with nobody on them.

Marsa Alam coastline, Egypt

Egypt's resort coast and dive hubs

Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, El Gouna and Marsa Alam give the Red Sea its established luxury base and marina access.

Yacht cruising the Red Sea

Saudi's new frontier

Sindalah, AMAALA and the northern Saudi coast are opening a newer, more private yacht landscape.

Before you book

Red Sea charter essentials.

When to go

October to May is the main charter window, with cooler air, strong visibility and long days on deck. March to May and September to November are especially strong for diving; summer runs very hot.

How to get here

Egyptian charters usually connect through Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam or Cairo. Saudi itineraries are developing around Jeddah, Sindalah, AMAALA and Red Sea International Airport.

Keep in mind

The Red Sea is route-sensitive. Some itineraries are dive-led, some marina-led, and cross-border planning, permits, heat and local availability all need careful handling.

YACHT FIT

What Kind of Yacht Works in the Red Sea?

The Red Sea is not one fleet. Egypt has the established dive liveaboard and charter infrastructure, with yachts set up around diving, tenders, compressors, and local guides. Saudi Arabia is moving toward a more superyacht-led model, with new marinas and destination infrastructure designed for larger private yachts.

For most clients, the right yacht depends on whether the brief is diving, winter sun, superyacht cruising, private island access, or a mixed itinerary with time ashore. We help filter the route and yacht together, because in the Red Sea the two decisions are closely linked.
