Indian Ocean Yacht Charters

The Indian Ocean is the third-largest ocean on Earth, covering about one-fifth of the world’s ocean area between Africa, Asia, and Australia. For yacht charter, the interest is in its island systems: the Maldives, with 26 natural atolls, shallow turquoise lagoons, coral reefs, and sandbanks far from land; and the Seychelles, where granitic inner islands give way to outer coral islands, reef flats, and remote anchorages.

This is a warm-water charter region with real geographic contrast. The Maldives is strongest during the dry northeast monsoon, roughly November to April, when lagoon cruising, diving, and sandbank stops are at their most reliable. The Seychelles works especially well around the calmer transition months of April-May and October-November, with May-September bringing drier southeast trades but rougher seas on exposed coasts.

The yacht choice is also stronger than many remote destinations: established local fleets, crewed catamarans, and luxury motor yachts can all work here, depending on whether you want easy lagoon days, serious diving, or a more far-flung island route.
