Charter questions

Are there naturalists or expedition guides on board?

Yes, and in some regions it is the law. The Galapagos requires a certified naturalist guide for every shore excursion, so one is always aboard or assigned. Antarctic and Arctic charters carry expedition teams that can include naturalists, ornithologists, historians, glaciologists and dive leaders.

Their value is enormous. They read the wildlife, lead the zodiac landings and hikes, run the safety briefings, and turn a glimpse of a penguin colony or a manta aggregation into something you understand and remember. On the best expeditions the guide is as important as the yacht.
