What crew is on board an expedition charter?

More than a standard charter. On top of the captain, chef and interior crew, expedition yachts frequently carry a dedicated expedition team: naturalist guides, dive instructors, and in polar regions specialists such as historians, ornithologists or glaciologists who lead landings and briefings.

In some regions this is mandatory: the Galapagos requires a certified naturalist guide, and Antarctic operations run detailed IAATO briefings. In others it is what separates a good expedition from a great one, the difference between seeing wildlife and understanding it.
