Two masters, above deck. VELA is a 50m (164ft) custom-built Phinisi sailing yacht launched in 2022, sleeping up to 12 guests in 6 cabins. The standout is the rare two-master setup above deck, including an Owner’s Suite on the bridge deck with a private terrace, plus a Master Cabin on the main deck.
Contemporary, not museumy. This is a Phinisi with a noticeably fresh, bright interior by Natacha Tanguy & Tresno Seery, built around Indonesian craftsmanship and local materials like solid teak furniture. Original contemporary Indonesian artwork features throughout. Less “dark timber everywhere,” more modern liveability.
Diving is the main event. Proper kit, not just a token wetsuit. You get 17 dive kits, two Bauer air compressors, and a Nitrox generator, plus a PADI dive center setup for guests who want to spend serious time under the surface.
Big toy mix. Two Yamaha jet skis, 2 Seabobs F5S, wakeboards, water skis, paddleboards, kayaks, towables, and snorkeling gear keep the days moving, with two 6.7m Zodiac Pro 7 Neo tenders making water access and shore runs straightforward.
Downtime is covered. Air conditioning, OLED Samsung TVs in every cabin and the salon with movies on demand, integrated Bluetooth speakers throughout (inside and out), and a video projector for movies under the stars. Add a main-deck outdoor gym and a portable massage bed, and you have options when you are not in the water.

Captain Haswan has sailed Indonesian waters for more than twenty years and runs Vela's navigation team, three-man engineering team and three deck crew. He handles routing and safety on a 2022 build fitted with current navigational technology and safety equipment.

Clive plans the daily programme across Indonesian cruising grounds he has worked since 2018, after more than 20 years based in South-East Asia. His background as a dive instructor and cruise director means dive and shore timings are set by someone who knows the sites first-hand.

Yoyok is Vela's head of activities and PADI-certified diving instructor, and has trained over three hundred people to PADI standards, so first-time and certified divers are briefed and matched to sites accordingly. He also runs the land and water programme, from trekking to water skiing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding and kayaks.

Bawa leads food and beverage service and builds cocktails around local fruits, herbs and spices drawn from Indonesian traditions. He works with the front of house crew, supported by Eka, his former colleague from Nirjhara.

Karim runs cabin housekeeping across the six cabins after 26 years with Aman Resorts in housekeeping and F&B service. As a certified PADI divemaster he also assists the head of activities in the water when needed.

Yusuf heads the three-man engineering team, covering the Yanmar main engine and the three generators that run air conditioning and onboard systems.
Yudi works in the three-man engineering team keeping machinery and generator cover running through the charter.
Tri completes the three-man engineering team supporting the engine room and generator watch.
Mansur is one of the three deck crew working under Captain Haswan on deck operations.
Ade is one of the three deck crew supporting daily deck operations on board Vela.
Ricky completes the three-man deck crew reporting to Captain Haswan.
Mamat works in the galley alongside the head chef, covering the meals and snacks included in the charter rate.
Eka serves in the front of house team under Bawa, covering the indoor saloon table and the two main deck exterior dining areas.

Bella delivers the onboard spa treatments included in the rate, up to four hours each day, using the portable massage bed in guest cabins or on deck.
