Fiji Yacht Charter Itinerary

Fiji yacht charter itinerary

Nadi to the Yasawas, without rushing the reason you came

This Fiji route works because it builds gradually: an easy first night in the Mamanucas, a quieter Sacred Islands anchorage, manta water at Drawaqa, then the Blue Lagoon and Sawa-i-Lau cave zone before the longer run back to Nadi.

Our route read

Why this route?

For a first Fiji charter, I would choose this route when guests want the Yasawas, not just the islands closest to Nadi. It includes the Fiji moments people usually ask us about: a quiet Sacred Islands anchorage at Navadra, manta water around Drawaqa in season, the Blue Lagoon, and the limestone caves at Sawa-i-Lau. The pace is relaxed for most of the week, with short hops and proper time at anchor; the only real push is the final run back to Nadi, which I would plan early or split if the yacht is slower. It is a strong fit for a motor yacht or faster catamaran, and for clients who want reefs, beaches, caves, and local context rather than seven versions of the same beach stop.

Nadi to Treasure Island

Easy first legMamanuca IslandsSoft arrival day

We like Treasure Island as a first-night stop because it gets guests out of the Nadi arrival zone quickly without turning day one into a passage. It is close enough for a relaxed embarkation, but it already gives the charter a proper island feel.

The value here is not ticking off activities. It is settling into the yacht, swimming off the stern, and letting the crew reset the pace after international travel. If guests want a shore stop, Treasure Island's conservation angle gives the day more substance than a simple beach landing.

Broker note“Keep this day light. Most guests enjoy Fiji more when the first afternoon is about recovery, not logistics.”
Day2

23 nm · About 1 hour 55 minutes

Treasure Island to Navadra Island

Sacred IslandsQuiet anchorageSwim and beach day

Navadra changes the tone of the trip. The Sacred Islands group is respected in Fijian legend, and the stop feels more exposed, quieter, and less resort-led than the easier Mamanuca anchorages.

For a yacht charter, that is the point. This is a day for clear-water swimming, a beach walk if conditions allow, and a slower lunch at anchor. We would not oversell it as a major activity hub. Its strength is the pause between the polished Mamanucas and the more remote Yasawas.

Broker note“Navadra is best treated as a weather-dependent anchorage. The crew should choose the landing and swim plan based on conditions, not a fixed script.”
Day3

21 nm · About 1 hour 45 minutes

Navadra Island to Drawaqa Island

Manta channelMay to October focusSnorkeling and reef life

Drawaqa is one of the strongest reasons to build the route north. Between May and October, reef mantas gather in the shallow channel between Drawaqa and Naviti to feed, and that gives the day a clear purpose beyond another pretty anchorage.

We would plan this stop around tide, current, and local guidance. Manta encounters should feel calm and respectful, not like a chase. If the mantas do not appear, the fallback is still strong: coral gardens, beach time, and a genuinely remote Yasawa setting.

Broker note“Do not promise mantas as a guaranteed wildlife show. Promise the right window, the right place, and a crew that understands how to handle the day properly.”
Day4

21 nm · About 1 hour 45 minutes

Drawaqa Island to Blue Lagoon

Nacula areaLagoon swimmingGood midpoint pause

The Blue Lagoon area works well at the midpoint of the charter because it gives guests what they picture when they choose Fiji: pale sand, protected-looking water, and green Yasawa hills around the anchorage.

We would use this day to slow the trip down. Swim, snorkel, paddle, and let the chef make lunch the main event. The mistake is trying to turn every Yasawa stop into a tour day. Blue Lagoon is strongest when it feels unhurried.

Broker note“This is also a useful reset point before the more northern cave and private-island stops. Keep the afternoon open.”
Day5

18 nm · About 1 hour 30 minutes

Blue Lagoon to Yasawa Island

Northern YasawasVillage contextRemote charter feel

Yasawa Island gives the itinerary more range. By this point, guests have moved well beyond the easy resort belt near Nadi, and the charter starts to feel less like island hopping and more like a private route through a remote archipelago.

This is where we would lean into place: village context if arranged properly, a guided walk, a beach barbecue, or a quieter anchorage evening. The experience should feel respectful and lightly planned, not staged.

Broker note“Ask the crew which cultural visits are appropriate before promising them. In Fiji, the best village experiences come from good local relationships.”
Day6

13 nm · About 1 hour 10 minutes

Yasawa Island to Sawa-i-Lau

Limestone cavesEarly arrival helpsSignature stop

Sawa-i-Lau is the route's most recognizable natural stop. The limestone caves sit in the northern Yasawas, with saltwater pools inside the caverns and a second chamber reached through an underwater tunnel.

We would make this a focused morning rather than an overpacked day. Go early, use a proper local guide, and leave space afterward for lunch at anchor. The caves are popular, so timing matters if the client wants the experience to feel special rather than crowded.

Broker note“This is the stop to protect in the itinerary. If weather or timing pushes the plan, adjust around Sawa-i-Lau rather than treating it as just another swim stop.”
Day7

10 nm · About 50 minutes

Sawa-i-Lau to Turtle Island

Short hopPrivate-island atmosphereSoft finale

Turtle Island gives the final full day a different kind of polish. The island is known for its private-resort model, 500 acres of land, and just 14 bures, so the feeling is more exclusive and managed than the wild anchorages earlier in the route.

For charter guests, we would position this as a soft finale rather than a heavy sightseeing day. Swim, kayak, take the tender along the beaches, and let the crew create a proper final dinner. Any resort access should be confirmed in advance.

Broker note“Private-island stops require careful expectation setting. The yacht experience is the main event unless specific shore access has been arranged.”
Day8

57 nm · About 4 hours 50 minutes

Turtle Island to Nadi

Longest passageEarly start recommendedDeparture logistics

The return to Nadi is the longest passage of the itinerary, so it works best as an early, easy run with breakfast underway and a relaxed arrival back on Viti Levu.

Our preferred version is an early departure, breakfast underway, and a clean arrival back toward Denarau/Nadi with enough margin for customs, transfers, or a final night ashore. For a slower yacht or a group that dislikes long passages, we would split the return with one more Mamanuca stop.

Broker note“Build the final 24 hours around the flight plan. Fiji is relaxed, but international departure days are not the place to test the schedule.”

Plan it with a broker

Make this Fiji route fit your yacht, dates, and pace.

A good Fiji charter is not just a list of islands. The yacht, cruising speed, guest mix, flight timing, manta season, and shore access all change how the route should feel. We help match the itinerary to the right crewed yacht, then shape the route so the week feels smooth from embarkation to the final run back to Nadi.
