Reviews
Hi Kerry
Hope you’re enjoying good surf and just kicking-back on that beautiful Shantaram..
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your Shantaram for 14 very short days; and that A-Team of Kimble and Lindi are just fantastic hosts and terrific people.
Truly a memorable experience.
Unfortunately, Vance and I have decided we won’t be able to recommend Shantaram as a “surf destination” in fear it will become so popular it will limit our opportunity to re-book; sorry, but self-interest is consistent with the way it is these days (“Ha”).
Once again thanks heaps; best regards and hope we meet you and Garth in person one day soon.
Geoff H
I have to agree with Geoff that we had an amazing 14 days. We surfed every day and most days had 2 surfs. Every session we had was super fun with some being absolutely epic & NOT CROWDED! I’ve been surfing 57 years now and it rates as one of my best surf trips ever. Your “A Team” of Lindi & Kimble are legends! Kimble got us to the best surf available with the conditions on offer (cool guy to surf with too!) and Lindi kept filling us up with her tasty cooking. What a great team- we always felt like we were in good hands even when the weather was super wild. Plus--- the photos they took of the trip were some of the best this old boy has ever had! My Son has been grilling me about Machines ever since he saw the first photo of the place-ha! I’m also super thankful that Ross recommended your beautiful Cat to us as an alternative to staying in a resort. Such a good call as being mobile we were able to see and surf more new spots- stoked! I’ve already had a couple mates here at Yallingup milking me for info on Shantaram and like Geoff mentioned…. I’m not quite sure how to handle it-ha!
Your call for an early season run has perked my ears up so you might hear from us again in april.? Hopefully we can find a great "dog sitter" and my Wife can join us-she would love it! Anyway, have fun and thanks to you and Garth for having us on your beautiful cat!
Cheers!- Vance
I am sorry I have not emailed you earlier in the week but its been a bit chaotic! We arrived home on Sunday night – exhausted from transit. I was back at the airport on Monday morning to pick up my Mom and sister from the airport – they are visiting from Australia for two weeks.
It's been all action stations since. I do feel somewhat like the two weeks of utter bliss and relaxation in the Maldives have been somewhat negated with all the activity – but I do find myself briefly escaping to my happy place – imagining I am back on charter on the boom deck mattresses.
Anyway, getting back to THE MOST AMAZING FAMILY HOLIDAY EVER….
The holiday was everything we hoped it would be and more. The yacht was comfortable and luxurious; the islands were indescribably beautiful; the surfing was awesome according the Brett and the boys but best of all were the crew who really made it extra special.
Kemble and Lindi are a stunning couple. Kemble went out of his way to ensure a bespoke trip that catered to our wants and likes. He has a brilliant sense of humor, and infectious laugh and he was fantastic at encouraging the boys to push through their comfort zone – whether it was in the surf, swimming with sharks and a Sailfish or being hauled up the mast!
He took ‘disasters’ in his stride and never appeared stressed out – ie. when the water maker stopped working; the generator got clogged, the toilet jammed, etc. He was also so good at ready my ‘gin-o-meter’ :)
Lindi, is just gorgeous inside and out. I really connected with her and enjoyed her conversation and personality. She is a genius in the galley with the limited fresh produce she has at her disposal. I really appreciated all the effort she put into all of our varied and delicious meals and especially taking Tyga’s fussiness into consideration. We certainly never had an occasion when we went hungry.
Seeing the shops where she provisions, I think what she is able to produce is remarkable. She even made Brett a birthday cake on the Weber! And everything was always done with a huge smile.
Talking from experience, I know that having people in a confined space for an extended period can fray nerves and get some on edge. We did not detect any consternation amongst the crew despite having guests on board for 2 weeks. This is no easy feat.
Overall we give the entire experience a 10/10. We loved the sailing component, we loved the extended stay in some anchorages (Farms); we loved the adventures like snorkeling on the shipwreck; we loved the food etc.
We are very happy to complete a TripAdvisor feedback.
My only regret is that I can’t book the next holiday now! Sadly, the cost is a factor so we will start to save for our next visit. What the holiday has done, is reconfirm how much we love the yachting lifestyle and we saw how much our kids enjoyed it too.
Thanks again!
